The tax and accounting profession is always evolving. Over the last year and a half in particular, there have been major changes in how the profession approaches advisory services, technology, culture, recruiting, and more. The profession is going through a transformation in mindset — moving from historical to real time information and data. For those that have been in the accounting space for decades, it’s something currently being brought to the forefront and for those just getting started, it’s here to stay.
Intuit is introducing, AccounTrends, a new podcast focused on bringing all viewpoints together to talk about trends in tax and accounting in a productive way. The hosts, Jasen Stine, Tax and Accounting Education Leader at Intuit, and David Bergstein, Chief Innovation Officer at Bergstein CPA, will interview thought leaders and influencers from the industry on trends they are seeing as well as leaders from different sized firms with a variety of approaches to technology, business, and more. AccounTrends will host interesting guests from a diverse set of backgrounds to help tax and accounting professionals stay on top of the most important trends and how to shift their practices and businesses — big and small — to accommodate them. AccounTrends will work to bring people together and give them the tools they need to stay relevant and discuss some of the below topics.
Advisory Services are Here to Stay
The term advisory services isn’t new, but it is still a hot topic among tax and accounting professionals. Everyone is talking about it, and it’s important to hear different viewpoints on how businesses are approaching this buzzword. How are they implementing advisory into their business? What does that mean for clients? How can you get started if you haven’t yet? If you’re already advising clients, what changes can you implement to make it even better?
It’s so important to go above and beyond tax preparation to back your clients as their proactive and trusted advisor. This will not only help you build relationships, but give you more flexibility in your practice.
Recruiting is Changing with Technology
Recruiting and education in the tax and accounting industry has been changing over the last few years. The real growth rate in the industry is no longer in the audit space, and technology has had a hand in changing that. You no longer need a certain number of years in accounting to succeed, and the CPA Exam is changing. Firms want people with data, cybersecurity, and technology skills to grow with the industry. Tax and accounting as well as technology can be taught, but having the right cultural fit is the real asset to firms.
You’ll hear from longtime veterans and new recruits into the industry on how they are thinking about technology, what tech they’re using daily, how they differentiate their business and more.
Advisory services, recruiting, and technology are just a few of the many topics Jasen and David will discuss. You’ll hear from a variety of tax and accounting professionals in different verticals and working on specific niches to share how they’re approaching these new trends and transformations in the industry to keep their firms — large and small — relevant and successful.
AccounTrends will provide tools to accounting professionals to be consultants, advisors, and coaches. Each episode, you’ll learn how to improve your business from the top minds in the industry. AccounTrends airs every 2 weeks on Tuesdays.
